The Lucy mission will explore asteroids that share an orbit with Jupiter, but the spacecraft won't visit the giant planet itself. However, on Oct. 16 – the very same day that Lucy is slated for launch – our Juno spacecraft will make another of its close passes low over Jupiter's cloud tops. After an almost five-year journey to the solar system’s largest planet, our Juno spacecraft successfully entered Jupiter’s orbit during a 35-minute engine burn. Confirmation that the burn had completed was received on Earth at 11:53 p.m. EDT Monday, July 4. Juno captured this unique time-lapse movie of the Galilean satellites in motion about Jupiter.
